Refund Policy

1. General Policy

  • Kanda Construction & Development provides custom residential construction and remodeling services. Because construction services involve scheduling, labor, materials, and third-party costs, all payments are handled according to the terms of the signed contract.

  • Refunds are not automatic and are governed by California law and the provisions below.

2. Deposits

  • Deposits are used to cover pre-construction costs, including but not limited to:

    • Project planning and scheduling

    • Design coordination

    • Permit preparation

    • Administrative setup

  • Deposits are non-refundable once work has commenced, including any pre-construction or administrative services.

  • Deposits may be refundable only if no work has begun and cancellation occurs in writing within the time period allowed by the contract.

Note: In California, contractor deposits may not exceed the legal maximum allowed by law.

3. Progress Payments

  • Progress payments are tied to completed phases of work as outlined in the contract.

  • Payments for work already performed are non-refundable.

  • If a project is canceled before completion, the client remains responsible for:

    • All work completed to date

    • Materials ordered or delivered

    • Subcontractor costs incurred

    • Permits, fees, and inspections paid on the client’s behalf

 

4. Materials & Special Orders

  • Materials that are:

    • Custom-ordered

    • Special-order

    • Fabricated to specification

    • Non-returnable by the supplier

    are not refundable under any circumstances.

  • Refunds for unused, returnable materials (if any) are subject to:

    • Supplier return policies

    • Restocking fees

    • Handling and administrative costs

 

5. Change Orders

  • Change orders are non-refundable once approved and executed.

  • Any additional costs incurred as a result of a change order are the responsibility of the client.

 

6. Project Cancellation by Client

  • If the client cancels the project:

    • Cancellation must be submitted in writing

    • The client will be invoiced for:

      • Work completed

      • Materials ordered

      • Labor scheduled or performed

      • Any non-recoverable costs

    • Any remaining balance after costs are applied may be refunded at the company’s discretion.

 

7. Company-Initiated Cancellation

  • If Kanda Construction & Development must cancel a project due to circumstances beyond its control or as permitted by the contract:

    • Any refundable balance after deducting completed work and incurred costs will be returned to the client within a reasonable time.

 

8. Refund Processing

  • Approved refunds will be issued using the original method of payment, unless otherwise agreed.

  • Processing time for refunds is typically 10–21 business days after final accounting.

 

9. Disputes

  • Any disputes regarding payments or refunds shall be resolved in accordance with:

    • The terms of the signed contract

    • Applicable California laws and regulations
